More Transactions: Wallace; Kidd

Maveicks re-sign Jason Kidd

The Mavs agreed to a 3-year, 25mil contract with the 36-year-old Jason Kidd. Now, While Jason Kidd is important for the mavericks, wouldn't they be better off with a younger player like Jarett Jack, Chris Quinn, or Nate Robinson? Jason Kidd will be 40 when his contract expires, these 3 guys would only be 28. Maybe Dallas kept Kidd with hopes that J.J. Berea can start in 3 years.

Celtics Secure Deal With Rasheed Wallace

The Boston Celtics have reached terms with Rasheed Wallace, who was lured there with hopes that a starting lineup of: Rondo, Allen, Pierce, Wallace, Garnett could win a title. You have to admit, thats one star-studded team. The terms were in the neighberhood of 2 years and 12 million dollars. Rasheed and Garnett can both guard Dwight Howard fairly well, and we all remember the battles between LeBron and Paul Pierce in the East Finals.

  1. interesting that the Mavericks re-signed Kidd when they wouldn't spend the $$ on Nash a few years ago ... who then went on to win a couple MVPs.

  2. Right on Amy. The Nash thing had nothing to do with the numbers and everything to do with owner Mark Cuban's ego.

  4. Celtics are a team to beat in the eastern conference with the addition of R.Wallace...I'm not to familiar with the Mavericks (one of my least favorite teams) IMO Western conference is too strong for the Mavs for a final appearance.
    Top 3 west teams
    1.Lakers (with Artest)
    2.Spurs (with R.Jefferson)
    3.Nuggets
    Top 3 east
    1.Celtics (Wallace)
    2.Cavs (Shaq)
    3.Magic (Carter)

  5. "Arista^^": If Lakers lose Odom this year, I would give my money to Spurs. With the addition of Richard Jefferson (minus Bruce Bowen), the Spurs seem to have an offensive punch at the SF position. One thing that makes it a confusing trend is that they just lost a great perimeter.. and glue guy defender in Bruce Bowen.

Btw, do you really believe Magic is #3? I always thought Turk was carrying the team. Seems like he was playing like a pg (great passing abilities) and also was their go to guy with 10, or 3 seconds left on a shotclock. Does Carter provide that kind of punch that Turk was able to do?

  6. Hi Jackson...well Im not hardcore fan and my analysis on NBA is like preschool knowledge...so with that said, I only have my opinions (they might be terrible but its the only knowledge i have so forgive me)

well they have one of the best in Kobe and they signed a great defender in Artest, IMO with Odom it's a sure bet for a repeat (not sure if Odom signed with Lakers)without him they still are a heavy favorite team in the west...yes I do agree Spurs look amazing!!

Turk was a great lost but IMO Carter is hungry for that "ring" and we all know what Carter is capable of doing... plus their PG Nelson needs to be healthy (I seriously believe that Nelson SHOULD'NT HAVE PLAYED IN THE FINALS!!!! THAT WAS JUST TERRIBLE COACHING DECISION)

I just wanted to help LJ with his blog...I told him I shouldn't because my knowledge is weak.

    - Good argument. But keep in mind that it took Odom a while to transition into the triangle offense. Not that Odom was particularly bad at it, but Odom defintiley got alot better this year. Will Artest be a natural at the triangle? I don't think replaing Artest makes up for both Ariza and Odom. Anyways, heres the things with the Lakers. If they don't resign Odom, I think it could hurt them in the long run seeing as how they are over the cap space and Lakers won't be under for a good amount of time. Without Odom, I say Lakers go to playoffs, but there won't be a repeat.

As for Turk Vs. Carter, Turk seems like the better player. Carter is capable of many things.. back when he was AIR CARTER in the younger days. I would take the current Turk over the current Carter anyday as Carter doesn't seem to share the ball as efficiently as Turk. But who knows, I may have missed something with Vince Carter.

Btw, you should help with the blog. It'd be intresting to have 3 cobloggers and would probably take off some workload from me and LJ. Kids crazy! Wanting 10 blogs per week! How are we going to read all that goes through anyways LJ? LOL.

Anyways, your knowledge isn't too bad Arista. It's fairly decent and pretty good too if you ask me. I say you take LJ up on that offer if it's still presented to you on the table. (:

LJ please disregard Jackson's offer, I think with his kids he hasn't been sleeping well.

thank you again for your invite

  9. Hi Jackson...

"Will Artest be a natural at the triangle?"

I have to agree with you it might/will take him some time to get adjusted.
We all know that Ron can be a "headache sometimes"...(I heard an interview on radio but couldn't find it on the web darn it and I dont know word by word) but he bascially said that he was unhappy and that caused him to act the way he did...but after coming to Houston a "contender" he finally started appreciate the game (sorry I was trying to find the interview) so with that he will be very motivated with the Lakers...plus Phil Jackson knows how to handle players.

ok regarding Turk and Carter...this one i have to disagree with you...if you look at their career stats they are very similar but Carter has a slight edge on the defensive end.

Turk F/G% 3pt% F/T% REB AST TO STL
    Career 42.8 38.5 80.1 4.2 2.7 1.7 0.8
    BLK PPG%
    0.3 12.3
    -------------------------------------------

    V.C. F/G% 3pt% F/T% REB AST TO STL
    Career 44.7 37.6 79.6 5.5 4.3 2.4 1.3
    BLK PPG%
    0.8 23.5

  11. I guess one thing that you'll find out about me is that I'm not really that type of guy who analyzes stats too closely. I usually take stats with a grain of salt, as I have to measure exactly why the player can perform at that level.

Also, I wouldnt use a career stats to prove my theory about the player currently. What Vince does in the past is the past, as I would say that Vince was the better player anytime, anyday.

With that said (this season only)Vince Carter, was playing along side Devon Harris, Brook Lopez, Ryan Anderson, and Kenyon Dooling. Vince seems to have had a better season in terms of scoring, but I would think that part of it would be due to the fact that he was New Jersey's only scoring option ( Devon Harris was injured during the middle of the season.)

With Orlando's scoring system, seems to me that everybody gets involved. That seems to be one good thing about Jeff Van Gundy. He's got himself a good team that can shoot 3's. I won't say that VC < Turk, or the other way around, but I would say that Turk seems to be a better fit with Orlando at this point of time. Also, keep in mind that Orlando just got away their pg Rafer Alston, putting Jameer Nelson at point. If Nelson is injured again, that leaves Anthony Parker as their second option. I really like Turk being able to handle some of the PG duties (while playing PF) because that means they can continue to move the ball to a three point shooter.

I guess what I really mean is who's going to feel like a better fit under Orlando's team. Turk or Vince Carter?

BTW, mind the writing please. I'm sure most of it is pretty unreadable but that was because I was just done watching two movies with my girlfriend ahaha.
