Team 2: Boston Celtics

The 2008 NBA Championsfound themselves in a fix this year, missing Star PF Kevin Garnett to injury for their entire playoff run, which lasted two rounds and 14 games. They went from 32-0 to 32-1 in a series that starts with Boston having a 3-2 lead. The Celtics offered the Pistons a trade involving Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen, Rodney Stuckey, Richard 'Rip' Hamilton, and Tayshaun Prince. This would not espescially help the Celtics, who would have a lineup that would be: Rodney Stuckey; PG, Richard Hamilton; SG, Paul Pierce; SF, Kevin Garnett; PF, Kendrick Perkins; C, with a 6th man in Tayshaun Price. But in this "Point-Guard driven league", Boston might need to make some moves for a star PG as opposed to a average one in Rodney Stuckey.

  1. also interesting - motives for these trades ... yes, such-and-such team might need a point guard, but what about salary, personality, retirement, and other factors in their decision?

  2. and on top of what Amy said, I am not sure that this league is so point guard driven anymore...look at all the stars around the league. They are either 2/3's or the are forwards. points guards are just the sidekick now in the league. If a trade like that was to go down, it would be because one of the teams is trying to create cap space to go after one of the "big time" players that are hitting free agency this coming year.

An average point guard can take you all the way, look at what Fisher just did with the Lakers. It isn't the point that holds the key to success anymore. I think the Celtics need to do something big if they are going to compete this season in the East with the moves the other teams have already made. The Magic and the Cavs have improved their teams, the Celtics need to do the same. The now old 'big three' is not going to take them anywhere
